Morning all
The May round up is fairly extensive this time, so strap yourselves in!
Branded content has caused a lot of confusion this month on Facebook. However, the paragraph below is what it boils down to. If you are a brand or influencer with a verified page, read on!"Branded content is a growing and evolving part of the media landscape. On Facebook, we define this as content that features a third party product, brand, or sponsor ("marketer"). It is typically posted by media companies, celebrities, or other influencers. Verified Pages (with the blue checkmark) can share branded content on Facebook as long as they follow our updated branded content policy and ads policy and use the branded content tool to tag marketers in their posts."It's essential that this is adhered to but to get the full explanation from Facebook, check the article right here.
Messenger in Facebook is becoming more and more important and Facebook wants you to use it for business and pleasure. Mari Smith highlighted a post from a friend called Ezra Firestone who says that email marketing is changing from being the first and foremost way to reach your audience to which last year (2015) was responsible for up to 50% of business revenue and Facebook want Messenger to be the go to platform to reach your audience.
Shopify are one of the first brands that will benefit from this change, please read the article to learn more and ensure you enable the messenger feature.
The incredibly talented Ian Anderson Grey has produced an awesome post on how to do this! Having Facebook Live on your mobile is great but can be limiting when you want to add special effects and will depend on bandwidth in some locations but with this blog from Ian, you can now do it from the comfort of your own home.
This post became viral very quickly and was shared by loads of influencers, it's well worth a read and don't forget to tell Ian I sent you!
If you arrange events, I'm sure you use Facebook to promote it but did you know you could add co-hosts to your event to help promote it? I certainly didn't so check out this excellent post from Sprout Social.
Crikey, everyone went mad when this came out and quite rightly so! It has revolutionized video/imagery for every size of business. You don't need to be a techie genius either, just please have a look at this and decide for yourself just how useful this will be to your promotion.
Instagram are in the process/have now installed a new business profile analytics (depends where you are in the world at the time of writing 13th May). This has very similar analytics to Facebook and will be invaluable to you in generating a real idea of who your client profile is through this medium. There is always going to be an overlap of people on different platforms, but some people have a preference on which platforms they want to be on. Hopefully by the time you read this the update will be here in Ireland.
In the context of the World Wide Web, deep linking is the use of a hyperlink that links to a specific, generally searchable or indexed, piece of web content on a website (e.g., "http://example.com/path/page"), rather than the website's home page (e.g., "http://example.com/"). WikipediaWell now Instagram are preventing the use of deep linking to Snapchat or Telegram (I've not heard of that Platform, have you?). Is this a sign of things to come? As you can see from the article they currently have enabled it for the other usual suspects, LinkedIn, Youtube and Twitter, etc but it is displaying a level of control that could easily be further tightened. What do you think of this?
The image size does matter, if you don't display it properly it won't look right on your page. It's worth bookmarking this page to refer back to!
