Social Media Round Up August 2018
I have just survived the busiest August since my business started 5 years ago! I had 9 separate meetings and/or training days – which considering I was planning on doing none, is impressive!
Let’s check out this past month’s Social Media Round Up:
The current “new toy” on Facebook would be the new Recommendations Feature. This was yet another bright idea by Facebook to help promote the right type of business to the right type of audience. Now having great testimonials and reviews have always been important of course. However with the new prominence of this tab on your Facebook Business profile it really leaves the business owner accountable. Responsiveness and problem-solving aside, its become a bit of a game changer as its now making the view of others a lot more important. Read the above link to learn more – it really is a great tool.
Facebook Location Page
This is an excellent tool for businesses that have more than one location under the same brand.
“Facebook is rolling out a new feature that lets you create separate location pages for each of your storefronts and connect them to your main brand page. Your individual location pages show up in Facebook search, making it easier for users to find stores and offices that are near them.”
This means that when someone searches for a store like yours it will locate the nearest one and bring your details up in a search.
Your first Facebook page will become more a brand page – like an umbrella for the other separate locations. This article in Social Media Examiner is extremely easy to follow and helps explain the whole process.
How to Understand Facebook Analytics (Insights)
I meet a lot of business owners that manage their own platforms. They will regularly keep tabs of their analytics on their phone. However, the analytics there are very basic to what you actually have on a laptop/tablet.
By reading and understanding this free tool you get to utilise the full remit of information. You can establish where your fans (Likes) are based in the country(s). Also what gender they are and posts they respond better too. Not only this you get to see who actually engaged with your posts and what the best time and days are to post.
Understanding this properly helps you create a better persona and means you can create content for the right people. Read this interview with Andrew Foxwell Facebook Analytics: What Marketers Need to Know to learn more!
I like Instagram as its easy to update. You can add real personality to it and keep you and your brand genuine. However, if you are using it for business most people measure their Instagram views to see how successful the reach is. This is How Instagram Ranks Who Watched Your Stories.
It’s not the way you might have imagined…
